Magnificent Wonders Of The Ice World

1. Blue River, Greenland
link
This river is a kayaking heaven in Greenland. The melting Petermann Glacier fill up the low lying areas with stunning blue water.

The filling pattern changes seasonally causing the river to change its shape. The vibrant blue color comes from glacial silt. [linkmap]

2. Glacier Waterfalls in Svalbard, Norway

link
Svalbard, which means "cold coasts", is an archipelago in the Arctic, constituting the northernmost part of Norway as well as of Europe. It is located about 400 miles (650 km) north of mainland Europe, midway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. Despite being so close to the North Pole, Svalbard is comparatively warm, thanks to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream, which makes it habitable. In fact, Svalbard is the northernmost permanently inhabited region on the planet.
link
Svalbard islands cover a total area of 62,050 sq km (24,000 sq mi), nearly 60% of which is covered by glacier with many outlet glaciers terminating in the sea. The giant glacier Bråsvellbreen, located on Nordaustlandet the second largest island in the archipelago, stretches out for 200 kilometres (125 mi). The 15-20-metre (50-65 ft) high ice edge of this glacier is intersected by hundreds of melt-waterfalls. These waterfalls can be seen only in the warmer months. [linkmap]

3. Crystal Cave, Iceland

link
This cave in the glacier ice is the result of glacial mill, or Moulin where rain and melt water on the glacier surface are channeled into streams that enter the glacier at crevices. The waterfall melts a hole into the glacier while the ponded water drains towards lower elevations by forming long ice caves with an outlet at the terminus of the glacier.
link
The fine grained sediments in the water along with wind blown sediments cause the frozen meltwater stream to appear in a muddy colour while the top of the cave exhibits the deep blue colour. Due to the fast movement of the glacier of about 1 m (3 ft) per day over uneven terrain, this ice cave cracked up at its end into a deep vertical crevice, called cerrac. This causes the indirect daylight to enter the ice cave from both ends resulting in homogeneous lighting of the ice tunnel.
link
The cave is accessible through a 22-foot (7 m) entrance on the shoreline. At the end it tapers to a tight squeeze no more than four feet high (1,2 m). Ice caves are in general unstable things and can collapse at any time. They are safe to enter only in winter when the cold temperatures harden the ice. Even so one could hear constant cracking sounds inside the cave. It was not because it was going to collapse but because the cave was moving along with the glacier itself. Each time the glacier moved a millimeter loud sounds could be heard. [linkmap]

4. Briksdal Glacier, Norway

link
Briksdalsbreen or Briksdal glacier is one of the most accessible and best known arms of the Jostedalsbreen glacier. It is located in Norway and is part of Jostedalsbreen National Park. Briksdalsbreen terminates in a small glacial lake, Briksdalsbrevatnet, which lies 346 metres (1,135 ft) above sea level.
link
Visitors from all over the world come to see the beautiful Briksdalsbreen glacier outlet, so beautifully situated amid waterfalls and high peaks.
link
With proper equipment and expert glacier guides, visitors can be part of an absolutely safe but incredibly exciting trip over the thousands of years old ice masses. [link1link2map]

5. Birthday Canyon, Greenland
link
Birthday Canyon, carved by meltwater, is 150 feet (45 m) deep. This photo was taken in 2008. Along the edge of the canyon, lines on the wall show the stratigraphic layers of ice and snow laid down over the years.

EIS field assistant, Adam LeWinter stands on the NE rim of Birthday Canyon, atop feature called “Moab”. Black deposit in bottom of channel is cryoconite - powdery windblown dust which is deposited and builds up on snow, glaciers, or icecaps. [link]

6. Elephant-Foot Glacier, Greenland

This unique glacier is located at an astonishing geographical location on the north-east coast of Greenland (81° N). [linkmap]

7. Frozen Wave, Antarctica

link
This unique frozen wave is located in Antarctica. It was discovered by american scientistTony Travouillon in 2007.
link
These pictures do not show a giant wave somehow snap-frozen in the very act of breaking. The formation contains blue ice, and this is compelling evidence that it was not created instantly from a wave of water.
link
Blue ice is created as the ice is compressed and trapped air bubbles are squeezed out. The ice looks blue because, when light passes through thick ice, blue light is transmitted back out but red light is absorbed.
link
Thus, the deep blue colour suggests that the ice in the formation was built up slowly over time rather than formed instantly. Subsequent melting and refreezing over many seasons has given the formation its smooth, wave-like appearance. [link]

8. Striped Icebergs, Southern Ocean

link
Most often icebergs have blue and green stripes, but may be brown. This phenomenon often occurs in the Southern Ocean. Striped icebergs with multiple color bands, including yellow, brown, black and blue, are quite common in the cold waters around Antarctica. Icebergs are formed when large chunks of ice break off from the ice shelf and fall into the sea.
link
Because glaciers are composed of snow falling on Antarctica for millennia, the ice is made up of fresh water. Thus it turns out that the floating fresh ice interacts with salt water. Sea water is in contact with supercooled glacier also freezes, as if covering it with a crust. This top layer of ice formed from sea water contains organic matter and minerals. Lapped by the waves, and blown by the wind, icebergs can be painted with amazing color bands of different shapes and textures.
link
Iceberg appears white because of the tiny bubbles trapped in the ice and the light-scattering. Blue bars are created when a crack in the ice shield filled with melt water, which quickly freezes. In this case, the bubbles do not have time to form. When the water is rich in algae, the strip can be colored green, as well as in other shades. [link]

9. Ice Towers of Mount Erebus, Antarctica

link
Hundreds of ice towers stud the flanks of 12,500ft. (3.800 m) high Mount Erebus like day-old stubble on the face of a giant. The constantly active volcano is perhaps the only place in Antarctica where fire and ice meet, mingle and create something unique encompassing both their natures.
link
The towers can be as much as 60 feet (20 meters) high and look almost alive as they huff and puff streamers of steam into the south polar sky. Some of the volcanic steam freezes onto the inner part of the towers, expanding and extending them. [linkmap]

10. The Fang in Vail - Frozen Waterfall, USA

link
The Fang is a waterfall located near the town of Vail, Colorado. The enormous ice pillar forms from this waterfall only on exceptionally cold winters, and when it does the column can measure up to 50 meters (165 ft) high and has been known to have a base measuring 8 meters (26 ft) wide. [link]

11. Penitentes, Chile & Argentina

link
Penitentes are amazing ice spikes formed naturally on plains at high altitudes areas especially on the Andes Ranges which are located more than 4000 meters (13,000 ft) above sea level. These ice pinnacles called penitentes attain varying heights from a few centimeters resembling grass lands to even 5 meters (17 ft) giving an impression of an ice forest. Their blades stand pointing towards the sun. When ice starts to melt in the early sunrays they slowly and steadily appear.
link
People of the Andes attributed this phenomenon to the speedy winds blow in that region which was only part of the process; wind had only limited role in shaping these beautiful statues. As per recent scientific observations the sunlight which falls on the ice heats it up moreover some of the light gets trapped in the ice they undergo numerous deflection within the ice blocks which lead to the unequal melting of the ice and those parts of the ice that has not melted remain giving birth to strange shaped statues known as the penitentes. Ice Flowers - Amazing Formations

ce flowers are formed on new layers of sea ice, from saturated water vapors that come up from under the ice through cracks. In contact with the cold air, the vapors start to freeze and the salt on the surface of the ice begins to crystallize and serves as a nucleus for the frozen vaporized water. Thus, molecule by molecule the ice flowers begin to take shape. They have recently been recognized as the dominant source of sea salt aerosol in Antarctica and scientist suspect they may be the main cause of tropospheric ozone depletion during the polar sunrise. One of the most beautiful frozen wonders on Earth, ice flowers are still a mystery to many people.

This is one of the most prominent and prettiest thermal pools in the Yellowstone parkThe depth of this pool ( natural hole) is 4 meters (13ft)The "Morning Glory Pool" was given its name in the 1880 for its resemblance to a morning glory flower.

The distinct color of the pool is due to bacteria which inhabit the water. However, this pool was once in danger of losing its colors when the Grand Loop Road used to pass close to it, which increased the likelihood of thoughtless visitors throwing coins into it - thus causing the pool to cool and jeopardize the existence of the color-causing bacteria that thrive within. Today, you'll have to do a little walking along the Upper Geyser Basin to get to the pool, and it's well worth the exercise. [linkmap]

8. Neversink Pit, Alabama, USA

Neversink Pit is a limestone sinkhole in Alabama, and it’s one of the most-photographed sinkholes in the world because of its beautiful fern-covered ledges and waterfalls. The hole is about 40 feet (12m) wide at the top, but it expands to 100 feet (30m) at its bottom, which is 162 feet (50m) from the ground. Neversink is home to bats and several rare and endangered fern species. [link]

Bonus: Man-Made Hole - Kimberley Big Hole, South Africa
link
Kimberley is the home of De Beers Consolidated Diamond Mines, some of the world's richest diamond mines, and it is still considered to be the capital of the world's diamond industry. As the centre for the diamond fever of the late 19th century, its foundations began to be dug in 1871 when a diamond was found on a small hill called Colesberg Koppie. Digging began and only a few months later more than 30 000 men were frantically excavating for diamonds in an area covering 300m (980ft) by 200m (660ft). They made short work of the hill and soon plunged down into the earth to a depth of 1100 metres (3,600ft) to create what came to be known simply as the ‘Big Hole'.
link
28 million tons of dirt was removed, yielding 14.5 million carats of diamonds and resulting in the creation of the largest man made hole in the world. It was here that the famous Star of Africa was found, a magnificent 83.5 carat diamond. [linkmap]

Amazing Man-made Islands

Amazing Man-made Islands

UMI HOTARU (JAPAN)

Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line is one of the express-ways which connect Kawasaki, Kanagawa and Kisarazu, Chiba. It is the crossing bay highway made by the underwater tunnel and the bridge. The Aqua-Tunnel is 9.6 km and starts in Kawasaki. At the connection of the tunnel and the bridge, there is a huge artificial island called Umi Hotaru.

SPIRAL ISLAND (MEXICO)

If you can't afford to buy your own tropical island paradise, why not build your own? That is exactly what Richie Sowa did back in 1998, using over a quarter-million plastic bottles. His SpiralIsland, destroyed years later by a hurricane, sported a two-story house, solar oven, self-composting toilet and multiple beaches. Better yet, he has started building another one! What's his ultimate goal? He wants to make the island bigger and bigger and finally float out to sea, traveling the world from the comfort of his own private paradise.

MEXCALTITAN (MEXICO)

Mexcaltitán is a small man-made island-city off the coast in the Mexican state of Nayarit. Legend has it that it was the Aztlan of the Aztecs, their home city and birthplace from which they set out on their pilgrimage in 1091 that led them to the founding of Tenochtitlan. This island is now being promoted as a tourist attraction and has been designated a "Pueblo Magico" by the federal government. It is accessible by boat from La Batanza, which is the docking area located some 40 kilometers from Santiago, Ixcuintla.

THE WORLD ISLANDS (UAE)

The World Islands project is a group of about 300 man-made islands, an artificial archipelago constructed in the shape of a map of the world located about 6 km off the coast of Dubai, UAE, covering an area of about 55 sq km. The master developer is Nakheel Properties, a subsidiary of the Dubai Government owned Dubai World conglomerate. The luxurious "Royal Island BeachClub" was the FIRST island on the spectacular "The World" project to open its shores to the public on Lebanon Island recently, offering travelers and visitors an unimaginable and unforgettable experience that is not to be missed, being among the first to offer a most remarkable view of the skyline of the new and modern Dubai from the World Islands.

KHAZAR ISLANDS (AZERBAIJAN)

The Khazar Islands (Azerbaijani: Xəzər adaları), also known as the Caspian Islands, are 41 artificial islands 25 km (16 mi) south of Baku, Azerbaijan, extending 3,000 hectares (about 11.6 sq mi) over the Caspian Sea. Avesta, the company responsible for the islands' development, is constructing the city to house 1 million residents, contain 150 schools, 50 hospitals and daycare centers, numerous parks, shopping malls, cultural centers, university campuses, a Formula 1 quality racetrack, and the Azerbaijan Tower (expected to be the tallest in the world).[2][3][5] The $2 billion tower is to be the centerpiece of the Khazar Islands, a $100 billion city.

NO MAN'S LAND FORT (BRITAIN)

It's been called a “man-made island fit for a Bond villain,” and it's easy to see why. No Man'sLand Fort, located off the coast of Britain, has a forbidding exterior with its towering armor-plated granite and steel walls. The Victorian-era sea fort was originally built to fend off attacks by the French navy, but is now a luxury hotel with 21 rooms, two helipads and a heated indoor swimming pool. It was put up for sale in 2007 but the company collapsed, leading to some drama with its former owner Harmesh Pooni, who barricaded himself inside in 2008. It still has not been sold.

ORSOS ISLAND (A $6 MILLION ISLAND)

Do you crave the seclusion of your own private island, but hate being tied down in one place? If so, an Austrian firm has developed the solution to your troubles: a man-made floating "island,"complete with two small diesel engines for whenever you fancy a change of scenery. The oval-shaped "Orsos Island" has been designed to combine the mobility of a yacht with the comfort of a house. It offers six bedrooms, spread over three floors and 1,000 square meters, and nearly four tennis courts -- a worthy luxury living space. The price tag for all of this is certainly more than you'd expect to pay for a mainland mansion but, at $6.5 million, it falls well below the average cost of the gigayachts and Caribbean islands currently favored by the fabulously wealthy.

REAL MADRID ISLAND (UAE)

In 2012, Spanish soccer super-team Real Madrid announced plans to construct a $1 billion luxury resort in the United Arab Emirates – and to ensure a truly unique location, the sports company plans to construct an archipelago of artificial islands upon which it will be located. The resort, which has also been described as a theme park for the soccer obsessed, will include two high-rise hotels, luxury villas, a 10,000-seat ocean-side football stadium, a marina, and a hi-tech museum devoted to the history of the Team. Real Madrid have announced that the 430,000 square meter project was designed by J+H BOIFFILS and will be constructed in partnership with the UAE government. They hope to open by 2015.

6. Rainforest Observation Tower, Panama
Rainforest Observation Tower, designed to observe the tropical rainforest and its colourful wildlife (especially birds), is located around 30 kilometres from the centre of Panama City and just two kilometres from the town of Gamboa. The tower, built in a tapering framework of steel tubes, is 32 metres tall, high enough to reach the forest canopy.
The centre of the tower is made up of a spiral stairway built around a central 12-inch wide tube, which is so solid that it was used as a crane during the construction process. It has four triangular or hexagonal platforms, the highest of which provides a view out over the whole of the forest canopy. The intermediate platforms provide views of the undergrowth and mid-levels of the forest, each of which has its own environment and fauna. The framework itself, made from eight-inch-wide tubes, is made up of triangle shapes reminiscent of the petals of an enormous flower.

7. Grand Canyon Skywalk, USA
The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a transparent horseshoe-shaped cantilever bridge and tourist attraction in Arizona near the Colorado River on the edge of a side canyon in the Grand Canyon West area of the main canyon. The Skywalk extends 65ft (20m) beyond the edge of the Grand Canyon and offers an unprecedented view from 4,000 ft (1.200m) above the ground!
The Horseshoe shaped skywalk is constructed of glass walls 4 inches thick and visitors must don special scratch-proof socks as they partake in the view. The work is a true engineering feat that can hold up to 70 tons (roughly 14 African Elephants) and withstands winds of 100 mph (160 kmh).

8. Aurland Lookout, Norway
Architects Todd Saunders and Tommie Wilhelmsen were commissioned to design a scenic rest-stop 2 000ft (600m) above Aurland fjord in Norway and came up with this beauty wining the first prize in Norwegian tourist routes competition.
The outermost end of the horizontal platform - which curves to form the structure's support - is closed off by a sheet of glass, offering an incredible view towards the ground for all those with the guts to make the trip to the end.

9. Dachstein Sky Walk, Austria
The Dachstein Sky Walk is formally enthroned at 2.700 m (8.860ft) above sea-level, high up on the 250m (820ft) vertical rock face of the Hunerkogel. A 360 degree panorama allows the visitor a view of Slovenia in the south to the Czech Republic in the north. This "balcony of the Alps" is distinctly higher than the platforms of the Niagara Falls or the Iguazu waterfalls in Brasil.
The viewing platform offers space for 150 guests and can be comfortably reached on the Dachstein cable car from Ramsau. Parts of the Dachstein Sky Walk platform floor have been constructed of glass, guaranteeing an amazing experience. Anyone can have a taste the peaks of the Alps without ropes, crampons or risk.

Amazing Photos From Switzerland

9 Of The Coolest Countries

WORLD'S HAPPIEST COUNTRY: COLOMBIA

We already knew that Colombians were people with a lot of flavor, delicious dishes, and high spirits, so for many it won't come as a surprise that being happy and hopeful would also be one of their greatest characteristics. According to a recently released poll by the WIN/ Gallup International Association, the South American country placed first on the "Global Barometer of Hope and Happiness," which surveyed individuals in 54 countries.

The survey found that Colombians are almost twice as happy as the global average.

Brazil and Peru were also among the Latin American countries listed within the top 10 of the world's happiest, taking the third and eighth positions.

COUNTRY WITH THE MOST SEX: GREECE

The horniest countries in the world were identified by the UK media according to Durex survey rankings. So, the higher a country appears on the list, the more frequently its citizens are having sex — which means at least once a week. In order to make it onto this list of the top 10 horniest countries, three-quarters of a country has to be going at it regularly. Embarrassingly, Canada and the U.S. don't make the cut.

Brazil was considered an early favorite, as were the French, but it turns out that the Greeks do it more often than anyone. 87% of Greeks surveyed had sex at least once a week. Brazil was second at 82%.

WORLD'S MOST PESSIMISTIC COUNTRY: FRANCE

Despite having food, wine, and scenery that are the envy of the world, a new study has revealed the French to be the most downbeat people on the planet.

The annual survey, carried out by the polling institute BVA-Gallup for the daily newspaper Le Parisien, spoke to the residents of 51 countries across all five continents to measure levels of optimism and pessimism. The survey found that wealth has little to do with overall happiness, with the gloomiest people found in Europe while the happiest were mostly in Africa and Asia.

The unhappiest countries were in Europe, with France at the top, receiving a negative score of 79.

CLEANEST COUNTRY: ICELAND

Iceland is the cleanest country in the world. According to researchers at Yale and Columbia Universities, the Nordic island ranks first out of 163 countries on their EnvironmentalPerformance Index.

Researchers ranked countries based on 25 indicators, including water and air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, and the impact of the environment on the health of the population. A score of 100 is excellent. Sierra Leone ranks at the bottom of the list with a score of 32. The U.S. ranks in the middle of the pack with 63.5. Iceland took top honors with a score of 93.5 thanks to ample clean water, lots of protected nature areas, good national health care, and a plenitude of usually clean geothermal power.

THE BEST COUNTRY FOR WOMEN: NEW ZEALAND

The Economist created an index showing the countries where women are most likely to be treated equally at work based on the labor-force participation rate, the wage gap, the proportion of women in senior jobs, and the cost of child care compared to wages, among other factors. New Zealand comes out on top, and other notorious lady-paradises such as Finland and Sweden also score highly. The countries where working women have it worst are South Korea and Japan, largely because so few women are in top jobs. The U.S. is roughly in the middle of the pack.

The biggest gender gaps in employment, though, are in Ecuador and Saudi Arabia.

WORLD'S MOST PACIFISTIC COUNTRY: ICELAND

The concept of peace is difficult to define – and even more difficult to measure. However, since 2006 the Global Peace Index has defined peace as the "absence of violence" and has sought to determine what cultural attributes and institutions are associated with states of peace. The most recent ranking in 2012 has Iceland as the most peaceful country, followed by Denmark and New Zealand. At the other end of the spectrum, Somalia is considered the least peaceful country, followed by Afghanistan and Sudan.

MOST EDUCATED COUNTRY: CANADA

Based on a study conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), 24/7 Wall St. compiled a list of the 10 countries with the highest proportion of college-educated adult residents. Topping the chart is Canada — the only nation in the world where more than half of its residents can proudly hang college degrees on their walls. In 2010, 51% of the population had completed a tertiary education, which takes into account both undergraduate and graduate degrees

Snagging the number two most-educated spot was Israel, which trailed Canada by 5%. Japan, the U.S., New Zealand, and South Korea all ranked, with more than 40% of their citizens having a higher-education degree.

UNFRIENDLIEST COUNTRY: BOLIVIA

When you're traveling, some countries just don't like you, or at least it can certainly feel that way. A new report released in March 2013 by the World Economic Forum has ranked which countries roll out the welcome mat to travelers, and which give the cold shoulder.

Among the extensive analyses, one of the most interesting rankings was how welcome tourists are in each country. So, what is the world's most unfriendly country according to the data?

Bolivia took the dubious honor, scoring a 4.1 out of seven on a scale of "very unwelcome" (0) to "very welcome" (7). Venezuela and the Russian Federation were next.

Which countries are the most welcoming to foreigners? That would be Iceland, New Zealand, and Morocco.

WORLD'S RICHEST COUNTRY: QATAR

Forbes Magazine recently created and published a list of the richest countries in the world. In the ranking of the World's Top 10 Richest Countries as of October 2012, Qatar came in first, topping Luxembourg which was positioned second. Qatar is an oil rich country with an abundance of natural resources, such as natural gas

They are very unpredictable, aggressive creatures, especially if wounded or cornered. The Cassowary lives in the rain forests of Australia and New Guinea and are actually pretty shy animals if undisturbed, but if you get to close and it thinks you’re a threat you could receive a bone-breaking kick or get sliced by its dagger-like sharp claws. During WWII, soldiers stationed in New Guinea were warned to stay away from these birds, but some of them still became victims.

The New Google Office in Tel Aviv

The New Google Office in Tel Aviv
The New Google Office in Tel Aviv
Google has recently moved into an incredible new office space Tel Aviv, Israel. The impressive 85,000 sqft campus occupies 8 floors in Electra Tower.  With incredible views of the city, the space is set primed for not only giving employees the right tools for work, but also those for inspiration and creativity.

The New Google Office in Tel Aviv
“It is a new milestone for Google in the development of innovative work environments: nearly 50% of all areas have been allocated to create communication landscapes, giving countless opportunities to employees to collaborate and communicate with other Googler’s in a diverse environment that will serve all different requirements and needs.
There is clear separation between the employees traditional desk based work environment and those communication areas, granting privacy and focus when required for desk based individual working and spaces for collaboration and sharing ideas.
Each floor was designed with a different aspect of the local identity in mind, illustrating the diversity of Israel as a country and nation. Each of the themes were selected by a local group of Googlers, who also assisted in the interpretation of those chosen ideas.
Being in Israel, for lunch the Googlers can choose from three amazing restaurants, for non-kosher, kosher dairy and kosher meat, each of the restaurants designed to it’s own style and theme.
Only 7 of the 8 rented floors in Electra Tower are actually occupied by Google. The remaining floor gives space to a new ‘Campus’, which was also opened in December by the Israeli Prime Minister. The ‘Campus Tel Aviv’, powered by Google for Entrepreneurs, is a new hub for entrepreneurs and developers, providing a base for start-up companies, and is only the second Google ‘Campus’ worldwide.
Sustainability played a vital role to Google in the development of their new Tel Aviv offices and the project is currently awaiting LEED ‘Platinum’ certification, the first of its category in Israel.”

How many planets in the solar system?
Misconception: nine

The reality: either eight or ten or more

In any case, the nine planets in our solar system - this is the wrong answer. Even the most conservative astronomers believe Pluto is a planet already on cultural rather than scientific reasons. In other words, do not want to diminish Pluto's statusso as not to confuse ordinary people. Pluto - this "tiny" ball of ice, one of the60 000 small comet-like objects that form the Kuiper Belt on the outskirts of the solar system. To date, 330,795 officially registered as such heavenly bodies, and every month, astronomers still open for 5000 new.

Amazing Facts About Human Body

5. Your Lungs, Bones and Nails!

Here are essentially three facts in one. First, your lungs are full of tiny blood vessels called capillaries. In both your lungs, there are 300,000 million capillaries and if you were to take all of these capillaries and lay them out end-to-end, they would stretch for 1,500 miles. Second, we can break our bones but our bones are actually quite strong. One block of bone the size of a matchbox can support the weight of nine tones, which is actually four times as much weight as concrete can hold. Third, your fingernails are constantly growing and if you lose a fingernail, it will take roughly half a year for the nail to grow back from the base to the tip.
6. We Grow Every Night

Yes, that’s right, every single night your body grows by a little bit. It is estimated that the human body grows about one-third of an inch while you sleep because your cartilage discs are squeezed by the force of gravity when you are standing or sitting. So, when you wake up and start walking, your height shrinks back down to your normal height.
7. Nature’s Filter

Your kidneys help to get rid of toxins from our bodies and without our kidneys, both of them, we would die. The reason for this is the amazing filter capacity of kidneys. Each kidney contains one million filters. This means your body has two million individual filters in it, which filter out 1.3 liters of blood per minute and expel 1.4 liters of urine per day! Without this vitally important filtering, our bodies would quickly fill with toxins and we would soon find ourselves very sick and very close to death. This is why people whose kidneys have failed need to be hooked up to kidney dialysis machines.
8. Our Bodies Are Hot, Hot, Hot!

The human body is one big energy producing machine. When you look at a picture of the human body with infrared technology, all you see is radiating heat. That heat is generated within our bodies and it helps to keep us alive. In fact, the human body generates so much heat that in only 30 minutes, the average body gives off enough heat (throughout the entire body) to bring half a gallon of water to boil. That may not seem like much given you can boil water in only a few minutes on the stove, but remember that your body is boiling this water by doing nothing but what it does every day; keep you alive!
9. We Are Visual Beings

We are visual beings because of the amount of information we process through our eyes, rather than through other senses. While bats may process most of their information through their ears, we process 90 percent of all our information through our eyes. The other 10 percent of the information is processed by our other four senses of touch, taste, smell and sound.
10. Breaking the Speed Limit

Our bodies do not move as fast as other animals, the cheetah for example, but we can exceed 100 miles per hour with something; our sneezes. When we sneeze, we expel air from our nose and mouth at the whopping speed of 100 miles per hour. That is pretty fast considering that it is coming out of our face and many may wonder why we do not blow our nose clean off with that kind of force.

5 Spectacular Tricks to Teach Your Body

1.) If you've got an itch in your throat, scratch your ear. When the nerves in the ear get stimulated, they create a reflex in the throat that causes a muscle spasm, which cures the itch.

2.) Having trouble hearing someone at a party or on the phone? Use your right ear it's better at picking up rapid speech. But, the left is better at picking up music tones.

3.) If you need to relieve yourself BADLY, but you're not anywhere near a bathroom, fantasize about RELATIONS. That preoccupies your brain and distracts it.

4.) Next time the doctor's going to give you an injection, COUGH as the needle is going in. The cough raises the level of pressure in your spinal canal, which limits the pain sensation as it tries to travel to your brain.

5.) Clear a stuffed nose or relieve sinus pressure by pushing your tongue against the roof of your mouth then pressing a finger between your eyebrows. Repeat that for 20 seconds it causes the vomer bone to rock, which loosens your congestion and clears you up.

6.) If you ate a big meal and you're feeling full as you go to sleep, lay on your left side. That'll keep you from suffering from acid reflux it keeps your stomach lower than your esophagus, which will help keep stomach acid from sliding up your throat.

7.) You can stop a toothache by rubbing ice on the back of your hand, on the webbed area between your thumb and index finger. The nerve pathways there stimulate a part of the brain that blocks pain signals from your mouth.
